well-oiled engine. Here, we would like you to meet all of the men and
women that are making a difference.
Anthony
Sofia III (President):
Tony started in collision work in 1967, working at Fischer Auto Body with his father. In 1971, along with Steve and Anthony Sr., Tony started Sofia Collision. Tony has attended the Kansas Jack Frame School , the Dupont Refinishing School and the CCC Estimating School . He began working at Sofia Collision on the frame machines. When the business moved in 1986, Tony moved to the front office, and, in 1989, Anthony Sr., turned the reigns over to Tony. Tony was the President of the Greater Rochester Auto Body Guild for four years and Vice President for four years. As President of the Guild, Tony helped tear down the walls between collision shops and insurance companies for a mutual relationship. Moreover, Tony attends quarterly meetings of Dupont's 20/20 group to keep abreast of the latest technology innovations that improve tools, supplies, and techniques.
Presently, Tony has a home in Rochester , New York as well as a new home in Phoenix , Arizona , which he enjoys with his wife Lisa and his four children. In his free time, Tony enjoys golfing and owning classic corvettes.
Steven
Sofia
(Vice President):
Steve has
been working in the auto repair business since 1968, when he got a job
with his father, Anthony Sr., and his brother at Fisher Auto Body. In
1971, Steve, Anthony and Anthony Sr., founded Sofia Collision. In 1986,
Steve was moved to the front office, where he became Vice President (he
couldn't spell 'secretary'). Steve was trained in several paint schools,
specializing in DuPont. He previously served on the Board of Directors
at the Rochester Claims Association. He's presently on the Board of Directors
of the Better Business Bureau as the Automotive Representative. In this
position, he researches complaints and acts as a mediator between the
shops and the customers. He has yet to appear in front of himself. Steve
graduated from Edison Technical and Industrial High School in 1969. He
served in the National Guard for six years, and almost got an honorable
discharge. Steve is married and has three daughters. Sharon, Steve's wife,
can spell 'secretary', and works for a lawyer. His oldest daughter, Stacy,
is an English major at St. John Fisher College in Rochester. Sara is a
business major at the University of Buffalo. Once she has graduated, Sara
will join the team. The youngest, Stefanie, attends Canandaigua Academy.
When not pushing the grindstone, Steve enjoys golfing, auto racing and
fishing.
Anthony
Sofia IV (Estimator, Lyell Location):
Tony
has been working on cars since he was old enough to hold a wrench, and
began working at the shop when he was 16.
He is ASE and I-CAR certified mechanic. Tony graduated from Penfield High
School in 1996 and attended BOCES in Fairport. He took advanced auto repair
classes at BOCES.
He has also attended Monroe Community College, pursuing a business major.
Tony enjoys motocross, jet skiing, snowmobiling, snowboarding, and customizing
cars.
Fred
Hussar (General Manager, Palmer Street):
Fred
began working in the auto repair business in 1975. He got a job with his
father at Maaco Auto Painting and Bodyworks, and worked there until 1990.
He began working in management for Sofia in 1998, and has been in the
front office ever since. Fred is ASE and I-CAR certified. He also holds
a New York State Independent Adjuster's License. He graduated from North
Tonawanda High School in 1978. Fred has two children. This man is active
in almost every sport, but concentrates on hockey, baseball and softball.
Dominick Morano (Parts Manager, Lyell Ave.):
Dominick has been involved in the auto repair business since he was 13 years old when he was working with his father, the owner, of Genesee Collision. Dominick then became owner in 1989 and sold out in 1996 whereupon he became part of the family at Sofia Collision. Dominick continues to be parts manager at the state of the art Lyell Ave. location; however, he worked at the Palmer St. location for over 5 years. Dominick enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife Elizabeth, son Dominick Jr., daughter Lisa, and granddaughter Breanna. Moreover, Dominick loves hunting, fishing, archery, and taking out his boat "Absolute-Lee" on Sodus Bay.
Dario
Capozzi (Production Manager, Lyell Avenue):
Until
August 2002, Dario owned Continental Auto Body. In February, Dario became
the Production Manager at the Lyell Avenue location.
Dario was born in Rome, Italy, but moved to America when he was 17 because
his father decided to bring the family to the United States.
He is certified in the I-Car program and has an independent adjuster's
license. Dario enjoys golfing, hunting and flying airplanes.
He is married and has three daughters.
